In 1999 I graduated from a nursing program at a community college in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I knew even before beginning the program that I wanted to graduate, become a licensed nurse in Ontario, and then come to America.
From the time of graduation, passing the Ontario exam, and being picked up by a head-hunting company for an Arizona hospital, I wish I had known someone who'd already been there and done it so I could draw on that well of experienced information and have confidence in my career steps.
Who doesn't want some heads-up information before they endeavour on a huge trip? You want to know what to ask, whom to ask, and even have an idea of the answers you're expecting. How else to know if what you're hearing is gold or garbage?
Travel Nursing: Your Ultimate Guide is YOUR resource, YOUR reference, based on my 10 years of Nursing experience.
Frequently I'm asked the usual 'traveler' questions: "So, where are you from?" When I say Canada, those who are also Canadian ask about the Greencard process, visa requirements and eventually about citizenship. Some ask "How long have you been travelling?", and when I reply, they say "Wow, that's great; where all have you been?". The questions don't change. Eventually after learning more about eachother, the deeper questions begin. What do I think about such-and-such company/contract/housing/hospital, do I have any ideas about travelling safely or moving 'smartly'? Contract negotiations, housing benefits, health insurance, per diem tax claims, primary residences, child care, pet care, storage, even NCLEX and PBDS questions. Name it, and I've been asked more than a handful of times. So I finally decided, 'I oughta write a book!'. The idea was strongly encouraged by all of my friends and family across the States, and one day inspiration struck.
And here we are!
Travel Nursing: Your Ultimate Guide really is your ultimate guide because it covers topics the competition doesn't.
